Welcome to the Linden Lab’s Young Adult’s Privacy Policy!

 This Young Adult’s Privacy Policy will tell you what kinds of information Linden Research, Inc. and its affiliates (collectively “Linden Lab”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collect from young adults, and how it is used. Certain of our websites, apps, products and services, including communication services, (collectively, the “Services”) are accessible by young adults aged 16 and 17. This Young Adult’s Privacy Policy applies to such young adults when they use the relevant Services. Young adults can also access our general audience Privacy Policy. 1. PROTECTING THE PRIVACY OF YOUNG ADULTS

We recognize the importance of providing enhanced protections when handling the information of young adults. We have adopted this Young Adult’s Privacy Policy to help young adults understand how we collect and use their information when they use our Services.

2. TYPES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE COLLECT IT

We collect personal information from young adults who use our Services. “Personal Information" means information that tells us who you are, or where you live, or what kind of device you use. This could include your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, username, and/or image.

We get this information in a few different ways which have been explained below.

Information You Give Us

We collect the information that you give us. This may include:

  • Account Information. Information you give when you register to use our Services or create an account such as your name, the country you live in, your date of birth, your e-mail address, and your username and password. You can also choose to add a photo of yourself to act as a profile photo; if you choose to provide an image of you which you can be identified from, this is your personal information.

    Please be aware that certain information you give us might become publicly available; for example, if you add your photo as a profile photo. If we don’t need the information to provide the Services, you can delete it from your account whenever you like.

  • Purchase and Transaction Information. When you buy something from us, we need you to give us some information such as your name, your date of birth, your postal and/or residential address, telephone number and payment information. We may also require some information from you when you buy something, such as clothes, from another user on one of our services or the Marketplace.

    When making any purchase, we’ll also keep a bit of information about what you’ve bought and how you did it.

  • Information You Give when Using our Services. When you use our Services, there are a few ways through which you can give us other information about you. For example, sometimes you can use chat functions – if you tell the people you’re chatting with something about you, like your gender, they will be able to see this and so will we. Other ways you might give information is when you post information on one of our forums or in a community environment.

    It is very important that you are aware that when using some of these functions, the information you share might be accessible by all of our Services users, depending on which function you are using. We encourage to you to be very vigilant when you provide any information to other users of the Services and to only do so if you trust the other person.

  • Surveys, Contests and Promotions. Sometimes we might ask you if you would like to take part in a survey, contest, or promotion. Depending on what it is, we might ask you to provide certain information, such as your name, address or opinion.

  • Communications. If you contact us, for example if you have a question about your account, we will collect some information such as your name and the email address you used to email us.

Information Collected Automatically
The device you are using to access the Service, such as your computer, tablet or mobile phone, will also share some information with us. This information is less about you as a person and more about how you use the Services such as the features you use, the people you interact with, and the time spent using the Services. We might also collect location information when you use the Services, including geolocation information or your internet protocol (IP) address.

We do all of this through cookies – but not the kind you can eat! For more information on this, please see our Cookies Policy. However, not all of the information in the Cookies Policy will apply to you as a young adult.

3. WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION?

  • Services. So you can use the Services you want to.

  • Communications. To communicate with you about how you’re using our Services, for example about your account, or to answer any questions you ask us.

  • Surveys, Contests or Promotions. If we run a survey, contest, or promotion, we might need to process certain personal information to do so. The information will depend on what we’re actually doing.

  • Improve Our Services. So we can make our Services better and fix any problems with them.

  • Violations or Illegal Acts. So we can watch out for and stop any activities on our Services that may violate our policies or may be illegal or harmful in any way to you, us, or our other users.

  • Compliance. So we can comply with the law and any lawful requests from regulators and governments.

If you are a young adult located in the EU or the UK, you should take a look at the Privacy Policy to read about the lawful bases we rely on under the law to process your information in these ways.

4. SOMETIMES WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We will only share your personal information when we are allowed to, including:

  • When you consent to us to sharing your personal information with another company, such as with a social media provider;

  • Sometimes when other companies perform services on our behalf, they need to be able to see your information to do so. For example, we have a company that stores all of our information for us – this means they help us store your information too. But none of these companies are allowed to use your information without our permission and can only use it for as along we let them;

  • If we run a marketing or promotional campaign for a business partner, we may share certain information with that partner if you took part in the campaign;

  • If we sell any of our Services, assets and/or businesses, or if the ownership or control of all or part of our Services changes;

  • To make sure our Terms of Service or other rules or policies are followed and to make sure you and our other users are safe. We might also share your information if we are asked to by law enforcement, or other governmental bodies or as required to comply with the law; and

  • To effectively perform our Services, we may share your personal information with other companies in our group of companies.

Some of the organisations which we share your information with may not be located in the same country as you – if we transfer your information to such organisations, this is sometimes called an “international transfer”. When we do this, we make sure to take extra precautions to ensure your information is protected. If you want to know more about this, take a look at the general audience Privacy Policy or ask us questions using the contact details below.

5. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION FOR?

We will only keep your personal information for as long as we need it to carry out the purposes we collected it for – the purposes are described above. For example, we keep your personal information while each of your accounts still exists. We may keep your information for a bit longer if we believe we need to do so and comply with the law.

6. THINGS YOU CAN DO

Your Choice

As explained above, there are instances when using the Services that you simply don’t have to give us your information – it is completely your choice. For example, if you don’t want to add a photo of yourself to your account, you don’t have to. Or, if you don’t want to provide any information about yourself when speaking to someone through our chat functions, then you don’t have to.

We encourage you to be very careful when sharing any information about yourself on the Services or online anywhere else.

Your Rights

Certain countries have laws that give you rights to choose how we use your information. These rights are intended to make sure you remain in control of your information. These rights may include:

  • Correct or Update: If the information we have about you isn’t right, you can change this. You can either do this within your account page or by asking us to change it;

  • Delete: If you don’t want to use the Services anymore, you can delete your account and this will delete your information once we’ve confirmed your information isn’t needed for things like legal reasons. You can also ask us to delete all or some your personal information, for example, if you don’t think we need it anymore;

  • Object: If you think the way we are using your information is unfair or wrong, you can object to us doing so. You also have the right to object where your personal information is used for direct marketing (such as emails) – we don’t actually direct market to young adults, but it’s good to know if other organisations direct market to you;

  • Limit or Restrict Use: In certain scenarios, for example if you think we don’t have a legal right to hold your data, you can ask us to stop or suspend using all or some of your information;

  • Remove Consent: If you have given us your consent to use your information for a specific purpose, you can remove this consent at any time, and we will immediately stop using your information for this purpose. This doesn’t mean we have to stop using your information for all other purposes;

  • Access: At any time you can make what is known as an “access request”. This means you can ask to know details about what information we hold about you and how we use it, and you can ask to see copies of such information;

  • Move Your Personal Information: You may request a copy of your personal information in machine-readable form to share it with another organisation.

To exercise one of these rights or to see whether you can exercise one, please contact us at the postal address below or by emailing privacy@lindenlab.com
